Arsenal football club was founded in 1886. It is said that the Arsenal home kit is red due to the fact that no kit could be sourced locally. Two of the founding members were past Nottingham Forest players, they wrote there asking for a kit and what arrived was a dark red (redcurrant) shirt, with white shorts and hooped socks, white and blue socks; the 1st Arsenal kit. This colored kit was worn for many years until 1933 when it was decided that the team’s kits needed a modern, fresher look.

In 1933 a brighter red shirt was launched. The shirt featured the white sleeves that are still worn today. This red and white Arsenal home kit is now iconic and symbolizes the team. No matter which supplier produces the team’s football kits the home kit will always be red with white sleeves.

The home kit is primarily worn for all home matches, and occasionally at away games. The Arsenal home football stadium is the Emirates Stadium. From 1913 until 2006 Highbury was the home of the Arsenal football team. This stadium was not deemed large enough for the numbers of fans wanting to watch Arsenal play at home. Once converted to an all seated stadium in 1993 it’s capacity was 38,419. Substantially more Arsenal fans demanded tickets for home games, due to planning restriction Highbury could not be extended. It was decided to build a new stadium now known at the Emirates Stadium.

The stadium was complete in 2006 and now houses up to 60, 361 fans on match day. The stands are awash with fans in their Arsenal kits cheering on the team. The Emirates name is due to a sponsorship deal that will last until at least 2028.

The Arsenal home kit is the most popular of the team’s kits and makes up a vast portion of the clubs kit sales.
