Turkey Soccer Jersey Available for Euro 2016 Qualifiers!

It’s been two years since the last UEFA European Championship, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to launch the qualifying rounds for the next European Championship! UEFA Euro 2016 will be held from June 10 to July 10, 2016, in France, and European teams are facing off right now to determine which nations will be represented. One of the many hopefuls is the Turkish national football team, and you can support their campaign for Euro qualification by stopping by Soccer Box today and picking up a brand new Turkey soccer jersey!

The Turkish side missed out on qualification for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, as well as for the 2012 European Championship in Poland and the Ukraine. As a result of those losses, the squad will surely be fighting twice as hard this time around for a place in the competition. Soccer Box has everything you will need to support the Crescent-Stars in their quest, including the Turkey away shirt 2014 – 2015 and the 2014 – 2015 home jersey!

The new away version of the Turkey soccer jersey is a lovely and simplistic white shirt with red trim. Made by Nike, the jersey features Turkey’s iconic moon and star football crest. Soccer Box also has stock available of the country’s current home shirt, which is pure red, with just the Nike logo and the moon and star crest in white. Both versions of the shirt will be worn by the Crescent-Stars throughout this year and next, during all Euro 2016 qualifying matches.

The Qualifiers so Far

For the Euro 2016 qualification rounds, Turkey was drawn into UEFA qualifying Group A. The group also includes Iceland, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Latvia, and the Netherlands. Of those teams, only the Netherlands played in this summer’s World Cup.

The fact that Group A doesn’t boast many heavyweight World Cup teams is good news for Turkey. In many ways, the group is wide open, leaving every team in contention with a legitimate chance of qualifying for the 2016 European Championship.

Unfortunately, things haven’t gotten off to the best start for the Crescent-Stars. In their first qualifying match, the country’s players donned the Turkey away shirt 2014 – 2015 and headed off to face Iceland.

Most soccer experts expected that the fixture would be an easy victory for Turkey: after all, Iceland has never qualified for the World Cup or the European Championship. The Crescent-Stars, meanwhile, placed third in the 2002 World Cup tournament, and replicated the same placement at Euro 2008.

The Iceland Fixture

Unfortunately for Turkish football fans, though, Iceland proved to be considerably stronger than expected. Indeed, they dominated the match right from the get-go, scoring the first goal at the 19-minute mark, and taking another pair of goals at 76 and 77 minutes to end the match 3-0.

So what’s the reason for the loss? Is the Turkey away shirt 2014 – 2015 bad luck? Were the squad’s football players suffering from jet lag, or some kind of climate adjustment issue? Did the home crowds give Iceland the edge for football domination?

Regardless of the reason, this loss is a tough blow for the Turkish national team to take, especially so early in the qualifiers. The loss, plus the three-goal deficit, put the squad at the bottom of the table for Group A.

Turkey’s 2014 – 2015 qualifier stock hasn’t increased in games against the Czech Republic or Latvia. In the former, Turkish players donned the home jersey to play in front of approving crowds in Istanbul. Even with the away team disadvantage, though, the Czech Republic won the match 2-1.

The away jersey didn’t prove to be much luckier for Turkish players in a match against Latvia. The fixture ended in a 1-1 dead heat. The draw earned Turkey their first point in the Group A standings, but it wasn’t enough to shift them out of their current last place slot.

Turkey will play one more qualifying match in 2014: in November, against Kazakhstan. After that, play will not resume until March 2015.
