Villas-Boas is a Portuguese football manager; unusually for a football manager he has never played professional football. Â He started his career by chance after meeting Sir Bobby Robson who arranged for him to undertake a professional coaching qualification. In comparison to some national teams such as England and Scotland who played their first international match in 1872 the Irish national team are relatively new. They played their first matches during the Olympic Games of 1924. The Republic of Ireland is a proud country with a rich heritage and a loyal fan base for their football team. Jerseys such as the Ireland away football shirt are popular amongst Irish fans.Â
Traditionally the Ireland away kits have featured a white shirt with green shorts. The home kit is always a green jersey, with white shorts.
Occasionally the second strip colours deviate to feature an orange colour scheme. These green, white and orange colours are traditional of the country and feature in the three stripe design of its flag.

The Irish national football team has had little success in international tournaments and competitions. Recently the team has parted company with manager Giovanni Trapattoni, he led them to qualify for Euro 2012 for the first time in 24 years. However they seem to have started this season well and it has gone great for them, they have put in 100% and they have had 3 wins, one draw and one loss. Before last weekend's games they were top of the table which was a very unusual site.
There is no doubting that the Reds have some quality players and a great managers and we are all left wondering if Liverpool could make the top four at LEAST this year.
The squad have definitely started off well first beating Stoke and home and then Villa away where they won 0-1 in the Liverpool away football jersey. They then surprised us all with a 1-0 home victory over Manchester United at home, then they drew with Swansea before losing 0-1 at home in a game against Southampton which shocked us all.
They have made a very good start and if they carry on with this great form and do not get distracted by the 0-1 - September 19, 2013
