The Spanish national football team is currently having the most successful era in their history.

The 1950s and 1960s was the most successful period prior to this, in this time they achieved 4th place in the World Cup in 1950 and won the European Championship in 1964.

They are now one of the most popular teams in the world selling thousands of soccer jerseys and Spain children football kits.

It was recently announced that AC Milan forward and former Brazilian international Robinho was to be called up for Brazil's friendlies against Chile and Honduras.

After last night's play-off's we now have more of an understanding as to who will  definitely travelling to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup tournament.

There were four teams who had to compete against each other in the second legs in order to determine who would grab one of the few remaining places in the World Cup next year.

One of the most anticipated games was Portugal V Sweden, or you could say Ronaldo V Ibrahimovic.

The teams competing also included Romania V Greece, with Greece securing their spot drawing 1-1 with Romania but beating them in the first leg 3-1 which gave them an aggregate score of 2-4.

France were the shock of the night, beating Ukraine 3-2 and overturning

Cardiff City is a Welsh football club. They compete in the English football league. The team was founded in 1899. As a team they have won few honours with their best achievement being the only non-English team to win the FA Cup in 1927.

The World Cup qualifying games are a very important part of the World Cup competition and anything can happen.

Football teams that would be usually classed as the 'underdogs' get the chance to play a range of other soccer teams and sometimes the most unexpected teams can get through to the next stages.
