Second Place

Coming into the 2014 2015, most expected AFC Ajax to blaze their way to another title in the Dutch Eredivise. The club has won 33 championships in the premier Netherlands football league, including each of the past four. A victory in 2014 2015 would be an unprecedented fifth consecutive title for the football club.

Surprisingly, the Lancers have had to settle for second place for almost the entire season. That's because PSV Eindhoven has been playing a remarkably great and consistent season. In fact, barring some big surprise, PSV will probably edge out Ajax for the 2014 2015 league title.

That's not to say that the Lancers have had a weak year, though. On the contrary, fans have had plenty of reasons to shop at the Soccer Box Ajax shop throughout the 26 games that have been played so far this season. Of those games, AFC have won 17 games, drawn five, and lost four. In comparison, the Peasants have 22 wins, one draw, and three losses.

The PSV Match

Given those stats-as well as the fact that only eight fixtures remain in the 2014 2015 Dutch Eredivisie-it looks as if Ajax will miss out on that fifth consecutive title. If there's any hope that AFC could catch PSV, though, it's that the Lancers topped Eindhoven decisively on March 1st, when the two clubs came head to head.

Indeed, donning the Ajax away shirt 2014 2015 and taking the pitch at Eindhoven's Philips Stadium, the Lancers managed an away victory in what amounted to one of the most exciting games of the season. AFC took the lead in the first half, with a 30-minute goal from striker Ricardo Kishna. After that, the game looked like it was headed toward a 1-0 away win for the Lancers-until Peasant player Luuk de Jong netted an equalizer at 77 minutes.

A lesser team would have accepted a draw at that point, but Ajax doubled down and played the final 10 minutes of the game like their lives depended on it. In one of the most impressive bursts of football play we've seen this season, the Lancers managed not one, but two more goals before the end of regulation time, winning the away fixture 3-1.

Excelsior

The win was a big moment for AFC, and gave fans ample reason to head to shop for a club home or away shirt at Soccer Box's Ajax shop. Unfortunately, it only boosted the Lancers to 53 points on the 2014 2015 Eredivisie standings table-still 11 points back from the Peasant total of 64.

In other words, if the wearers of the Ajax away shirt 2014 2015 are going to win the league this year, they are going to have to win every one of their remaining games. More than that, though, they are going to have to hope that Eindhoven starts to lose.

They got off to a good start this past weekend, beating Excelsior 1-0 at a March 8th home fixture. The Peasants won their game too, though, beating Go Ahead Eagles 3-0 in an away match. In other words, AFC is still trailing first place by 11 points.

Can the club make up that point deficit, or will they have to settle for second place? Only time will tell, but you can root for their chances today by visiting the Soccer Box Ajax shop and picking up a new home kit or away shirt.
