Arsenal are going for the gold-literally. On July 14th, the Gunners unveiled their new Arsenal away kit 2015 - 2016 -a brash blue and gold design that reflects the football club's desire to finally win a Premier League title. The jersey is a departure from 2014 2015's yellow and blue away shirt, but it doesn't lose the charm that that Puma jersey had.
In fact, the overall design of the Arsenal away jersey 2015 2016 isn't too far off from the away shirts that the Gunners were wearing last season. The sleeves and shoulders of the shirt are still navy blue, Arsenal's red crest still appears in the same spot on the kit, and the Fly Emirates logo is still displayed prominently in the center of the jersey.
The biggest shift is in color, trading the bright yellow of the 2014 2015 away kit for a shimmering gold hue. To keep the shirt from looking too theatrical, kit manufacturer Puma gave the gold parts of the jersey a striking argyle diamond patterning. The result is an away jersey that's different from anything we've gotten from Arsenal in the past, and frankly, it's a must-own for Gunners fans.
Going for the Gold
The obvious symbolism in the shirt-and something that neither Puma nor Arsenal would have missed-is the association between the color gold and victory. Many fans and soccer analysts have already wondered if 2015 2016 could be the year that Arsenal finally makes a grab for the Premier League title, and if it is, then how fitting for the Arsenal away jersey 2015 2016 to bear a gold design?
The Gunners, of course, haven't won a top-flight English football title since 2004. However, two solid seasons in a row (including two consecutive FA Cup titles, and a Community Shield victory in 2014) highlight Arsenal as one of England's best soccer teams. In fact, they are arguably the squad to watch in 2015 2016, simply because they've only been steadily improving over the past four or five years.
A Grandiose Kit Launch
Arsenal seem to know that they have an air of prestige and potential right now that they haven't necessarily had in a few seasons. That could be why the club has been pulling out all of the stops for their 2015 2016 soccer kit launches.
The launch of the 2015 2016 Arsenal home jersey was certainly exciting. Fans gathered outside Emirates Stadium as five current Gunners stars (Santi Cazorla, Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, Tomas Rosicky, and Danny Welbeck) appeared in the new red and white home kits for the first time. Even Thierry Henry, Arsenal's all-time leading goal scorer, was on hand to make the launch more special.
If possible, the launch of the Arsenal away jersey 2015 2016 was even more of a spectacle. Currently on tour in the Far East for a string of pre-season friendlies, the Gunners stopped to show off the new gold away kit to an enthusiastic bunch of supporters in Singapore. Ten players-including top talents like Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil, and new signing Petr Cech-were on hand on Monday, July 14th to present the new jersey, marking Arsenal's first kit launch outside of the United Kingdom.
The next night, the Gunners wore the gold away kit for the first time in a match, beating the Singapore national team 4-0. The match saw a hat trick performance by Chuba Akpom, a 19-year-old striker who has been signed to Arsenal since 2013, but has spent most of his time since on loan to other football clubs. From the looks of it, Akpom will be sticking around for the 2015 2016 season, and he may be a player to watch if his Singapore performance is anything to go by.
Are you a fan of the new Arsenal away kit 2015 - 2016? Do you think it will help the Gunners clinch gold in the forthcoming English Premier League season?
