Arsenal's 2013-14 FA Cup

As a Premier League team Arsenal entered the FA Cup in the 3rd Round. They received a tough draw against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The only luck on Arsenal's side was a home draw; the game would be played at the Emirates Stadium. The favored Arsenal home kit bought the team much needed strength and determination. It seemed Arsenal was destined to play at home, the quarterfinal saw a home tie with Everton, and a 4-1 win secured a trip to Wembley for the semifinal.

Wigan Athletic, the FA Cup holders would of been Arsenal's least wanted opponent. However, Wigan it was to be. The semifinal itself featured an uninspiring 1st half in which neither team posed much of a threat. After the break both teams came out willing to fight and the pace improved. Wigan took the lead from a penalty. Mertesacker, in his number 4 Arsenal soccer jersey, leveled to form a tense 1-1 stalemate between the 2 sides.

The match went to extra time and then a dreaded penalty shoot-out. Fabianski the Arsenal goalkeeper was star of the show, saving 2 penalties. Arsenal will be favorite whoever the opponent.
