New Aston Villa Kit 2015 - 2016 Officially Available for Purchase

The Kit Designs

Designed by kit manufacturer Macron, Aston Villa's latest jersey designs do a nice job of both honoring the traditions of the Premier League football club, but also of establishing new traditions-and hopefully ones that will be linked to a successful season. Where last season's away kit was a white shirt with claret red pinstripes and shorts, this year's design is a bold yellow shirt with black detailing and shorts. Indeed, the design looks more like something you'd expect to see from Germany's Borussia Dortmund (nicknamed "the Black and Yellows" for a reason) than from Aston Villa.

While the yellow design of the 2015 2016 away kit is a far cry from the away uniforms we've seen from the Lions in recent years (last season's white and red look was preceded by a mint green and blue color scheme, while the 2013 2014 soccer season saw the team wearing white and purple at away fixtures), it isn't a completely new look. Aston Villa have gone with a yellow and black color combo for their away kits once before, in the 2003 2004 season. That season saw the Lions finishing sixth in the Premier League, and only missing out on a spot in the top five due to goal difference.

A sixth place outcome this year would be deemed a huge success for Aston Villa, particularly after last season. The Lions were nearly relegated to the second tier of English football, following a 17^th place finish in the Premier League.

Aston Villa's Poor Season Start

So far, unfortunately, Tim Sherwood's new Aston Villa squad has not made much of an impression on the 2015 2016 Premier League. The soccer club got off to a good start, donning the yellow 2015 2016 away kit on August 8^th for an opening weekend win at AFC Bournemouth. Unfortunately, an at-home loss against Manchester United in week two, and a 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace in week three (where the Lions' only point came from the other team's own goal) have left the Claret and Blue in a tight spot.
