Throughout the 2014 2015 football season, en route to a third consecutive victory in the German Bundesliga, the players of Bayern Munich wore a distinctive red and blue striped jersey in their home games. For the 2015 2016 season, though, the football club's style is changing noticeably. The day before the end of the 2014 2015 campaign, Adidas launched a brand new Bayern Munich home kit 2015 - 2016, and it's a distinct change of pace from the 2014 2015 version.
Indeed, the brand new Bayern Munich home kit for the 2015 - 2016 season largely returns to the subtler design that Bayern had during the 2012 2013 and 2013 2014 seasons. Those jerseys were red with white detailing around the neck, sleeves, and shoulders. The new home shirt boasts a similar red color, but replaces the white Adidas striping and detailing with darker red around the sleeves, hem, and crewneck. Meanwhile, the club name spans across the shoulders on the back of the football shirt in a nicely minimalist manner.
The New Design
So why the new design? Perhaps the Bavarians are anxious to distance themselves from the 2014 2015 season. While a very good year for the football club, 2014 2015 also brought disappointments. Bayern were eliminated from the Champions League in the semifinals, lost the DFL-Supercup to Borussia Dortmund, and were eliminated from the DFB-Pokal thanks to a semifinal loss-also to Dortmund.
Add the fact that Bayern lost three of their final four Bundesliga matches (after only losing two matches all season, up to that point) and the 2014 2015 was certainly something of a mixed bag for the normally unflappable Bavarian squad.
Already, the new red home shirt design has heralded a change in fortunes for Bayern Munich. On May 23rd, the day after Adidas launched the new kit, the Bavarians donned the 2015 2016 home jersey and took the field at their own Allianz Arena. They were coming off the low point of their season-a loss against SC Freiburg, a team that finished 17th in the Bundesliga and was ultimately relegated. Needless to say, Bayern Munich (and their fans) needed a strong finish to a season that seemed to have fizzled.
However, in the new home kit, Bayern Munich seemed to be their old selves. They beat Mainz 05 two to nothing, winning the match and salvaging what was left of the 2014 2015 season.

The 2015 2016 Away Kit and Third Shirt Designs
Bayern Munich and Adidas have not yet officially launched either the 2015 2016 away kit or the 2015 2016 third shirt. Alleged leaks of the new soccer shirts show an away shirt with a slight design tweak from last year's white shirt with red, blue, and grey striping. The third jersey looks to have also gotten an overhaul, with subtle horizontal striping in black and dark grey and red detailing on the sleeves and shoulders. We will have to wait until the official launch date though for the revelation of the exact design.
