By all accounts, the 2015 2016 season will bring about a new dawn for Borussia Dortmund. Last season was a major letdown for fans, with the consistent German title contenders falling to seventh place on the Bundesliga standings table. The end of the season brought the resignation of beloved manager Jurgen Klopp-arguably the greatest coach the team ever had-and the start of the 2015 2016 campaign will herald the arrival of new manager, Thomas Tuchel. Needless to say, the football squad needed a new kit design to mark the start of the era, and Puma came through with the Borussia Dortmund home kit 2015 - 2016.

Puma launched the new soccer shirt on July 1st, with a video featuring footage of both fans and players wearing the fresh design. Dortmund stars such as Marco Reus, Shinji Kagawa, Kevin Groskreutz, and Oliver Kirch can be seen in the official video, clad in the new yellow home jersey.

The Redesign

While the Borussia Dortmund home jersey 2015 2016 has certainly been somewhat overhauled for the forthcoming season, it doesn't abandon the hallmarks that a BVB home shirt should have. This soccer club is still nicknamed as "the Black and Yellows" after all, and the home football uniform is still made up of those two traditional colors.

However, the 2015 2016 home shirt does represent something of a streamlining of last year's BVB home kit. The 2014 2015 home jersey featured an asymmetrical design, with black striping on one side and pure yellow on the other side. The modern, experimental made for a cool and thoroughly unique aesthetic, but with the 2015 2016 season marking the start of a new era for the club, it was clear that a more back to basics kind of design was needed for this year.

The Borussia Dortmund home jersey 2015 2016 is the fulfillment of that need. The shirt is considerably cleaner and sleeker than the 2014 2015 design, scrapping the asymmetric design for a classic yellow and black design with a fold-over collar.

The collar is black and one bold stripe of black runs from the collar down the sides of the sleeves. The rest of the shirt is yellow, other than the five thin, elegant horizontal black pinstripes that break up the color. The logo of kit sponsor Evonik remains prominently featured on the football shirt.

Special Features

Arguably the coolest characteristics of the 2015 2016 BVB home shirt are the special features or little Borussia Dortmund Home Shirt 2015 - 2016Easter eggs that Puma added for die-hard fans. The most notable of these is the text printed inside the collar, which reads-in German-Borussia Dortmund's seven core principles.

The text-which stresses the importance of ideals like teamwork, passion, and responsibility-is a nice touch for the 2015 2016 version of the BVB jersey. After all, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to reaffirm their German football dominance this season: it's only fitting that they reaffirm their values and their mission statement as well.

We're also fond of how the word "DORTMUND" is printed on the bottom rear side of the jersey, in bold black lettering. Bayern Munich are also printing their team name on the backs of jerseys this year, and it's a nice reminder that the team always comes before the individual.

Other Kits and Merchandise

The Borussia Dortmund home kit 2015 - 2016 is now available for purchase at Soccer Box, as are numerous other 2015 2016 jerseys or pieces of merchandise. The black football shorts that go along with the new home jersey, for instance, have arrived, as have the new yellow and black-striped soccer socks.

We're also quite fond of the new 2015 2016 training kit, which takes last year's asymmetrical home shirt design and twists that concept for an interesting new aesthetic. It's a shirt you'll have to see with your own eyes to really appreciate.
