26th January 2017. By Danni Biggs.
With another win under their belt, Celtic continues their impressive unbeaten run. Last night The Hoops made their 25th win of this season, of course meaning they are comfortably at the top of the table leaving the other team's way behind.

Brendan Rodgers, the new manager of Glasgow Celtic since May 2016 and has now matched John 'Jock' Steins legendary unbeaten record from season 1966/67. With a total of 26 domestic games unbeaten after defeating St Johnstone last night, Rodgers and his squad will need just one more game to beat this staggering record. With a 22 point lead Celtic prepare for their upcoming away fixture against Hearts on Sunday.

Celtic's victory against St Johnstone on the 25th Jan 2017 was a huge historical result for The Bhoys. A goal from defender Dedryck Boyata after 72 minutes ensured their 26th undefeated Scottish Premiership game of the 2016/17 season. Now Brendan and his men have matched John Steins record, which they look to surpass on Sunday, Celtic head towards an enormous task, emulating the Arsenal Invincibles from the 2003/04 season.

An Incredible Challenge

With equaling Stein's 50 year old record The Celts look towards their 'new competition' if they avoid defeat against Hearts. The Scottish Premiership is on its way to a close, however new and more difficult challenges are being created for Celtic, keeping things interesting.

The season 2003/04 was well-known for Arsenal. The competitive matches were played between August and May; the club ended the Premiership season without a single defeat, meaning Arsène Wenger and his men created a record of 26 wins and 12 draws, finishing top of the table.

So is it doable? Can they become the new Invincibles? It's possible, but it's a huge ask and a tough challenge for The Hoops. Celtic has already matched Arsenal's 26 wins, with an unfortunate draw back in September; meaning Glasgow Celtic is on par to beat the Arsenal Invincibles squad from 2003/04. It'll be the greatest achievement for the Celtic manager, Brendan Rogers. Who has achieved his best win record of his career while managing Celtic, currently at a 73.68% win record since May 2016 with only 38 matches managed.

Brendan Rogers

Following the exit of Ronny Deila, Rodgers was appointed manager for Celtic in May 2016, enrolling in a 12 month contract. Rodgers got off to a rough start with his first game managing Celtic, suffering a defeat against Lincoln Red Imps in the first leg of their second qualifying round of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League. "There is obvious disappointment. There is no embarrassment" Rodgers said of the surprise result. Celtic went onto to qualify for the group stage of the UCL for the first time in three years, following their victory over Hapoel Be'er Sheva on August 12th.

Taking on Celtic for the 2016/17 season Brendan Rogers added new players to his team, including Kolo Touré, Moussa Dembélé, Scott Sinclair and Cristian Gamboa, which are some superb additions to the squad. Aberdeen and St Johnstone are two teams which Celtic suffered defeats from in previous seasons; however this season Rodgers' squad has already beaten them both, showing Brendan's managerial skills have come into effect.

Brendan Rodgers believes in a flowing passing game so his team keeps possession and the ball is constantly moving. When playing defensively Rodgers prefers his squad to apply pressure to the opposing team, in hope a mistake is made and Celtic can take advantage. Brendan, former Liverpool manager creates a 'no-excuse culture' at Celtic, part of which includes issuing each member of his squad with a detailed breakdown of their upcoming opponent before each game; it is not compulsory but it means no-one can complain of lack of information.

Will Rodgers sign another contract as Celtic Manager?

The Hoops cruised to victory over Aberdeen in the Betfred Cup Final with goals from Tom Rogic, Hames Forrest and Moussa Dembélé back in November and was awarded their 100th trophy, and the first for Brendan Rodgers as a boss.

Fans are thrilled at their team's uplift in performance, and have taken to social media to sing his praises. "He is already laying the foundations for a real period of domination for Celtic and it is all there for him if he wants it."

With his 12 month contract coming to a close Celtic fans as well as the squad wait as to whether Rodgers decides to continue managing the Glasgow Celtic side. Already, such a successful season for Rodgers at Celtic, yet to be defeated in the league and winning his first piece of silverware as a manager, what other reason does he need to stay on?

Another social media comment from a loyal fan and a reasonable outlook on the rest of the 2016/17 campaign reads "Celtic look unstoppable in terms of winning all three domestic trophies this season."

Celtic is on the right track to be awarded their 4th treble and the first since 2000/01. Rodgers can take his place in the Celtic books alongside managers John Stein and Martin O'Neill if he succeeds in taking his squad to another treble.
