Wolfsburg scored a massive victory, Borussia Dortmund snapped their seven-game winning streak, and Bayern Munich continued to avoid defeats in the 13th week of the Bundesliga title race 2015/16. The Bavarians are widening their lead over the rest of the table, with Dortmund's loss allowing the defending league champions to move from a five-point advantage to an eight-point lead. With 12 wins and only one draw on their record this season,
Munich already seem like a foregone conclusion to clinch yet another German football championship next spring.

Bayern were in-form in their away fixture against Schalke 04, winning 3-1 to improve both their point total and their goal difference. Even with their star striker, Robert Lewandowski, going scoreless, the Bavarians still racked up three goals, including a last-minute contribution from Thomas Muller. Anyone waiting for the wearers of the Bayern Munich home jersey 2015/16 to show signs of weakness is going to keep waiting, in other words.

Disappointment for Dortmund

Still, even though Bayern Munich are virtually always dominant in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund have looked like worthy contenders and rivals for much of the 2015 2016 campaign. Coming off a disappointing season and the resulting resignation of manager Jurgen Klopp, Dortmund's Black and Yellows have surprised fans and pundits alike with their speed, hunger, and consistency.

Other than a loss against Bayern in early October, Dortmund hadn't dropped another Bundesliga fixture all season. The football club were also enjoying a seven-game winning streak heading into Bundesliga match day 13, having won their last four league matches, as well as additional competitive soccer fixtures in the Europa League and the DFB Pokal.

The Black and Yellows showed some serious weakness over
the weekend, though, losing 1-3 in their away match against Hamburger SV. Hamburger, of course, only narrowly avoided a dip into the 2. Bundesliga at the end of last season, thanks to a solid performance in the relegation playoffs. Still, Dortmund should have had an easy win in this game and instead ended up trailing for the vast majority of regulation time.

By the 19-minute mark, Hamburger were leading. 10 minutes into the first half, the hosts had added two more points, including a Dortmund own goal. BVB standout Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saved his team from a shutout with a late goal, but the game was an embarrassment regardless and called into question whether or not Borussia Dortmund can really challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title.

The lone bit of silver lining for Dortmund this week is that, thanks to his goal, Aubameyang is now the top scorer for the 2015 2016 Bundesliga campaign. Coming into the weekend, both he and Robert Lewandowski had tallied 14 goals. Since Lewandowski had a goalless week, Aubameyang is officially the league's top dog.

A Big Win for Wolfsburg

Adding insult to injury for Dortmund, though, was the fact that every other team near the top of the Bundesliga table escaped week 13 with wins. Wolfsburg got the biggest boost of the weekend, crushing Werder Bremen 6-0 to singlehandedly revitalize their goal difference number. Wolfsburg, occupying the third-place slot, are still five points behind Dortmund in the standings and 10 points behind in goal difference (+8, versus BVB's +18), but wins like this help close those gaps.

Borussia Monchengladbach beat Hannover 96 2-1, continuing their impressive turnaround. Monchengladbach
lost their first five fixtures, tumbling to last place on the Bundesliga standings table. Of the eight games since, the Foals have won seven, drawing the other. They've beaten solid teams like Wolfsburg and Schalke 04, and managed big victories against the weaker ones, like Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. Monchengladbach are now sitting in fifth place, with the third highest goal tally (25) in the league. Talk about a comeback!

Hertha Berlin, finally, won 1-0 against Hoffenheim to maintain their fourth place position in the league.
