Cardiff City is a Welsh football club. They compete in the English football league. The team was founded in 1899. As a team they have won few honours with their best achievement being the only non-English team to win the FA Cup in 1927.

In 2010 the club was taken over by a Malaysian businessman, since then with solid investment the clubs fortunes have turned around, even achieving promotion to the Premier League.

As part of the deal with their new Malaysian owners the club agreed a controversial deal to change the colour scheme of the Cardiff City Soccer jersey.

Up until the 2012 - 2013 season their home kit colours had been blue and white.

The rebranding involved a drastic change to red and black, also part of the deal included a new training facility, expansion of their stadium and a transfer budget to bring in new talent.

The brand new Cardiff City Home Soccer Jersey 2013 2014 has been launched by kit manufacturer Puma.

In accordance with the new deal the jersey is red in colour, with white sleeve trim.

It has a smart V-neck collar and features the club crest and Puma logo.  Printed across the chest is the 'Visit Malaysia' logo, in accordance with the clubs collaboration with the countries tourism board.

This smart new kit will be worn during home games for the clubs first ever Premier League appearance.

Prior to this season the club has played in the top-flight of English soccer, during the 1920s, 1950s and 1960s.

It was then known as the Football League First Division.

Since the league restructuring and advent of the Premiership in 1992 the club has appeared in the 2nd, 3rd and even 4th tiers.

Last season, their debut season in the newly designed Cardiff City soccer jersey they played in the N Power Football Championship, and what a season it was.

For the first ever time they were crowned champions, they finished the season at the top of the table 8 points clear of Hull City.

Receiving automatic promotion to the top-flight certainly helped stifle any criticism over the clubs rebranding.

So far in their Premier League experience they have played 7 matches.

From these games they have been rewarded with 2 wins, a stunning display at home affording them a 3-2 win over Manchester City, and much needed away win at Fulham.

They have drawn with Hull and Everton, and lost the remaining 3 games. This gives them 8 points, the team are currently a healthy 14th in the table.

Ben Turner a defender that wears the Cardiff City soccer jersey has recently stated that he is pleased with his teams opening games.

He pointed out that the wins they have achieved show they are not a 'soft-touch', and even the games they have lost haven't been easy wins for their opponents.

He believes they've had the best start they could have hoped for, and said that 'staying up' is the main aim.

It seems that the players wearing the Cardiff City soccer jersey will prove difficult to beat, and are planning on a long stay in the top-flight.

Popular opinion seems to be that they will achieve their goal this season with many commentators predicting a 14th - 17th place finishing position.

There may be more shocking results like Manchester City's defeat at the hands of Cardiff City to come!
