A Disappointing End to the Year
With all of their recent successes, it was a bit disappointing how 2014 ended for the Celts. Between late October and mid-December, the squad strung together an eight-game winning streak. It looked for sure like they were heading straight for their fourth consecutive trophy in the Scottish League Championship.
But the last weeks of 2014 were less kind to the squad. After beating virtually every team in the division during the aforementioned eight-week winning streak, the wearers of the Celtic FC strip fell 1-2 in an away fixture with Dundee United.
The loss was a surprise for the team and their fans alike. After all, when the Celts had donned the Celtic home shirt to take on Dundee United in the early weeks of the season, they had won the match 6-1. And even after many other victories, that game still stands as Celtic FC's biggest home win of the season so far.
In December, the tables were turned. Dundee United scored in the first five minutes of the match, taking control early and showing that playing on your home field is indeed an advantage. The Celts remained scoreless until the 87-minute mark, but by then Dundee had scored a second goal, sealing the win.
Celtic FC's final fixture of 2014 wasn't a whole lot better, though it didn't result in a loss. Disappointed after their first loss since early October, the squad sleepwalked through a home game with Ross County. The full time score was 0-0, a disappointing end to an otherwise stellar year.
Starting 2015 off with a Bang
Luckily for fans in the Celtic FC strip, the start to 2015 was markedly better for the squad than the end of 2014. In their first match of the year, the Celts donned their artful green away shirt to take on Kilmarnock.
The game was played on January 5th, which meant that Celtic FC got a later start to 2015 than many of their Scottish Championship League rivals. Initially, they were supposed to play on New Year's Day, taking on Partick Thistle in an away match. That fixture was postponed, which meant that the Monday bout with Kilmarnock was the first flash of 2015 for the Celts.
And it was a good one, too. Despite the fact that they were playing away from home, Celtic FC controlled the match from start to finish. A 36-minute goal from defender Emilio Izaguirre gave the football club a lead going into halftime, while a 72-minute score from Stefan Š?epovi? put them over the top for a 2-0 triumph.
That win puts Celtic just one point behind Aberdeen on the division standings table. Of course, Aberdeen has played one more game than the Celts, and otherwise things would probably look different. After all, the wearers of the Celtic home shirt 2014 2015 have fewer losses, more goals scored, and fewer goals allowed. They've even beaten Aberdeen twice already this season!
Suffice to say that Celtic is still the frontrunner to claim Scotland's top soccer division come spring. Show your support for the winning team with a new Celtic FC strip, available at Soccer Box! Whether you are looking for a home shirt or an away strip, you can find it here.
