Last night was the final match of the Week 1 Premier League season, newly promoted Burnley played host to the team wearing the Chelsea home kit 2014/15. Chelsea is being touted as the most likely winners of the Premier League title in May 2015, and last night they proved that where they lacked last year, this year they will flourish and shine.
The Chelsea soccer jersey is set to be one of the most popular football kits this year. Whether you choose the home, away or third kit the selection designed by Adidas for 2014/15 looks fantastic. You can choose your kit at Soccer Box and get it delivered to your door while stocks last. The blue home kit is selling fast, but the smart yellow away jersey is also a must have for keen fans.
Jose Mourinho
Last season Jose Mourinho, newly returned manager to Chelsea, consistently underestimated his teams chances of success. Chelsea did spend a considerable amount of the season flying high at the top of the Premier League table, but Mourinho always insisted that Chelsea was 'a little horse' and not ready to win. They finished in a respectable 3rd place, and also made it to the UEFA Champions League semi-final round, further than any other English team.
Jose Mourinho is a man of character, clever, smart and witty with the media. He has always stated that he belongs at Chelsea and seems to have a long-term plan for the clubs success. Last year, Mourinho knew that Chelsea was lacking in certain areas and new faces that will wear the Chelsea home kit 2014/15 have been bought in to plug that gap.
This season the line-up of players looks different to that of last year. Frank Lampard, Samuel Eto, Ashley Cole and several others were released from their contract while David Luiz and Demba Ba amongst others have been sold. This makes way for new players that are expected to shine.
Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa are the big signings that will be wearing the Chelsea soccer jersey for the 2014/15 campaign. Felipe Luis has also joined Chelsea, and most recently Didier Drogba has returned to Chelsea on a free transfer. Last season Chelsea lacked a strong striker, and hit the net less frequently than Manchester City and Liverpool who finished 1st and 2nd respectively.
A Winning Start
Last night was the 1st game of the season to feature the Chelsea football kit. It was an away tie at newly promoted Burnley but the brand new Chelsea home kit 2014/15 was the kit of choice. Burnley, being promoted from the Championship should have been no threat to Chelsea, even away from home.
However, Burnley hit the net 1st, after only 14 minutes to create a momentary panic for Chelsea and their fans. The lead didn't last long; the Chelsea squad soon found their stride and proved why they were favorites to win the 2014 2015 Premier League title.
New signing Diego Costa made his 1st appearance in a Chelsea soccer jersey and proved he was worth his £32 million price tag. Diego Costa scored the equalizer only 3 minutes later to change the pace of the game. Schurrle added a 2nd and Ivanovic a 3rd to make the score line 1-3 after only 34 minutes. This was the most exciting opener to a Premier League game so far.
After the half time break the score stayed the same. Most importantly, the squad wearing the Chelsea kit showed their fluidity and skill, there wasn't an opening for Burnley as Chelsea controlled the ball and the flow of play. The goal scoring and opening performance has done nothing but solidify the fact that Chelsea is the favorite to win the title.
Next weekend Chelsea will face another newly promoted team Leister City, this will be on home turf. Leicester held Everton to a 2-2 draw in their 1st match, but Chelsea will be clear favorite to win. At Stamford Bridge, in front of a crowd of home fans sporting the Chelsea football kit this will be a must win match, and win Chelsea is likely to do.
The 1st real test for the newly rearranged Chelsea squad will not come until 21st September when the team will take on title holders Manchester City away from home. This will be a tough tie, a grudge match, and is certain to be an important factor in decided which team goes on to hoist the trophy next May.
