The Blues certainly started Sunday's football match like a team in celebration mode. The home side scored just five minutes into regulation, when captain John Terry took an assist from Cesc Fabregas to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead.
A center-back, Terry has never been known for his goal-scoring. This season, though, he's provided five goals in EPL competition, and an additional three in cup and continental play. He's even outscored Blues attackers, like Didier Drogba and Loic Remy, as well as midfielders like Cesc Fabregas and Ramires.
Terry isn't the only elder statesman enjoying a resurgence of goal-scoring statistics this season, though. On the contrary, Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is experiencing a similar late-career renaissance. In fact, Sunday's football match essentially boiled down to a battle of the captains, when Gerrard equalized the score just before halftime.
