The France soccer jersey for the upcoming World Cup 2014 in Brazil is a simplistic offering from Nike. Both the home and away kits have been designed to offer the players comfort and the fans a simple identity. You can purchase official World Cup shirts and accessories at the Soccer Box shop.
New Nike Kits Ready for the World Cup
Nike has produced the France football shirt in time for this summer, and they have designed something a little bit different to what we knew previously. The home strip is all blue, but it is a darker navy blue in color now. The only variation in color is a white collar and logo.
The away strip is white with the colors of the tricolor adorning the sleeves. This added bit of vibrancy in the design and is accompanied by dark navy shorts. The away strip has more depth than a home strip, but both have been made stylish by Nike.
The home and away France soccer jersey has been designed using Nike Dri-FIT technology. This will aid the players during what will be a hot and humid atmosphere in the majority of Brazilian stadiums. Holes for ventilation are aimed at minimizing levels of sweat reaching the skin.
Jerseys and shorts are light in weight, and now designed mainly for comfort. Players have been tested and 3D body scans used to provide the perfect fit for the majority of football players. Athlete's today prefer a tighter fit to give less resistance as they run.
Nike released a statement to coincide with the release of the brand new France soccer jersey. Martin Lotti, Creative director of Nike Football, said "By managing sweat & keeping the body cooler longer, players will feel more comfortable, sweat less and will perform better."
The Team That Nearly Didn't Qualify
All of this talk about the home and away jerseys for the World Cup can't disguise the fact that France nearly didn't qualify at all. They struggled in the qualifying phase, finishing second behind the world champions, Spain.
It seems a long time ago that France was dominating world football like Spain is now. They won the World Cup on home soil in 1998 and followed it up by winning the European Championship in 2000. Turmoil has followed the team since with internal arguments becoming public.
In 2006 France did manage to reach the World Cup final. That now seems like a blip - a rare glimpse of hope. Every other tournament since 2000 has seen terrible performances and early exits. A generation of great players faded away without winning international honors.
In the play-off round it was the last chance saloon. France lost the first match to Ukraine 0-2, and it looked like 'Les Blues' would fail to qualify for a World Cup for the first time since 1994. Experts had written them off; it looked like a long way to Brazil in the days between the first and second match.
France fought back, showing great desire to beat Ukraine 3-0 in the second match. Their 3-2 aggregate victory confirmed their place in the draw for the Brazil FIFA World Cup 2014. After the groups for this summer were drawn, everyone confirmed that France had been extremely lucky.
Luck of the Group Stage Draw
Group E this summer includes Switzerland, Ecuador, Honduras and France. The team in navy blue jerseys will fear no opponents in that group, and will fancy their chances of progressing far in the World Cup.
Anything is possible once you qualify from the group phase of an international tournament. France will hope to gather strong momentum before the second round phase. If they can do that, France could be a dark horse to lift the trophy this summer in Brazil.
If you're after the France football shirt or wish to purchase other soccer apparel in time for the World Cup tournament this summer, you are in the right place. Fans make soccer tournaments what they are today, and you will look the part in your national kit of choice.
