The 2010 World Cup final was a match to be remembered. Both Spain and Holland were fighting for their 1st ever World Cup trophy. It was a tough match for both sides; the score was 0-0 after 90 minutes so extra time was played. Spain scored in the closing minutes of extra time dashing Holland's hopes for another tournament. This was a great draw alongside Estonia, Andorra, Turkey, Hungary and Romania. Only the top team from each group would be guaranteed to qualify, the runner up would enter the 2nd round play-off.

The Netherlands couldn't of asked for a better group; they had a strong qualifying performance and were unbeaten throughout each of the 10 matches. The Netherlands won 9 of the games with some good results, and convincing performances, including an 8-1 thrashing of Hungary. They finished top of the group, guaranteeing that the Holland football shirt would again feature in the World Cup tournament.

First Round Draw Upset!

Netherlands has been drawn into Group B alongside Spain, Australia and Chile. Group B will be a group to watch. The top 2 teams from each group will progress to the knock out stage, the favorites will be Spain and Netherlands but Chile should not be ruled out.

The brand new Netherlands 2014 FIFA World Cup home jersey is likely to 1st be used on 13th June 2013 for the teams 1st game. This is expected to be an explosive match, a rerun of the 2010 World Cup final with Holland facing Spain at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador. This match will be crucial for both teams, a good start, strong 1st game performance and a winning scoreline can be pivotal to the success or failure of any teams World Cup campaign.

Can Holland Finally Win the World Cup?

If the Holland team can beat Spain and secure 3 points from their 1st match the remainder of the group games should progress smoothly. If they lose the 1st game, the resulting knock in confidence, and prospect of overcoming a points deficit may be enough to adversely effect their other matches and end their tournament sooner than hoped. The team wearing the Holland football shirt would of hoped for a better draw but is sure to fight hard to win that 1st match.

The 2nd match for players wearing the Holland football shirt is against Australia. The Netherlands should win this game without too much trouble, giving them a confidence boost before facing Chile in the final group game. Based on statistics and FIFA Rankings both Spain and Netherlands should progress to the knockout stage. Netherlands is overdue the chance to lift the World Cup trophy but the odds are stacked against them, with a group draw against Spain and host nation Brazil firm favorite to win!
