Football is not only an interesting sport to watch, it is one of the most popular sports as chosen by the young and old today. There are more and more new local football teams being set up each day in the UK, this includes 7-a-side for younger children and 11-a-side for teens and adults. As young children are becoming more familiar with professional football teams and players than ever before, some idolise a certain football player, they may have never played football before but would like to achieve what their favourite player has, therefore having a go at playing a new sport.

Football is great for health, when you are young and as you get older it is important to keep fit, this sport is not only one of the most interesting sports but it has been proven to be one of the top sports for improving your health. Exercise is always a good thing, but with some types of exercise and sport is can sometimes become quite boring and tedious, this is the excuse some people use when it comes to exercise. With football there is always something going on and you are aiming to achieve a goal all of the time whilst at the same time keeping the ball out of your team's net. You get to meet up with friends while doing what you enjoy and keeping healthy at the same time.

A mixture of all different kinds of people play football whether it is to keep fit or whether they just have a passion for the game. Children as young as 6 can now play in local football teams, this is a great way of keeping children fit and healthy in a positive way that they will enjoy. Studies have been carried out on men aged from 20-40, half of these were told to play football for an hour a week and half of the men did nothing. The results significantly showed that the men who did play football now had lower body fat, increased muscle mass, lower blood fat levels and also a lower level of blood pressure. The men who had not played the football were the complete opposite. It is great for people of this age to keep fit by joining a local team, pulling their men's football kits on and playing a game of football.

This does not have to be a competitive game; friendly matches are just a good for your health. Another shocking result in this study found that people who have taken part in football instead of jogging received much better health benefits. During football you are constantly moving at faster and slower paces, as well as sprinting. Jogging is usually just done at one pace; playing football ensures that your heart works at different rates and not one level.

Football is a fantastic way of letting go and enjoying life, Endorphins are released by exercise which is our natural mood lifter. The social integration during football is also good for lifting your mood. Playing sports and exercising will eventually help you to lose body weight and you will gain a great feeling when you are becoming healthier. During a football match your body will be burning fat and even after the game will still be burning calories because your metabolic rate will increase by 10%.
