In comparison to some national teams such as England and Scotland who played their first international match in 1872 the Irish national team are relatively new. They played their first matches during the Olympic Games of 1924. The Republic of Ireland is a proud country with a rich heritage and a loyal fan base for their football team. The Ireland away kits as well as the home shirts and training wear are manufactured by Umbro. Umbro began making soccer kits in 1934 and first struck a deal with Ireland in 1994, after new terms were agreed in 2009 the deal will remain in place until 2020.

The Republic of Ireland are the only national soccer squad to have a commercial sponsor, all team wear including the brand new Ireland away kits feature the telecommunications company 'Three' logo.

As per FIFA regulations the team do not display this sponsorship during international matches but as a loyal fan the jersey that you purchase will feature the logo printed in the centre at the front.

The Three sponsorship deal began in 2010 with an investment of €7.5m; extended terms have recently been agreed with a further investment of €4m up to 2016.

This deal does more that place the company's logo on the Ireland home and away kits. The money is destined to be used at all levels within the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), including at grass roots level to help grow young talent into future Irish soccer stars.

The Ireland away kits have been worn by the team during World Cup qualifying matches in preparation for Brazil 2014. Unfortunately after a poor performance during qualifying against the likes of European giants Germany the Irish squad's hopes of reaching next year's finals are all but over.

Via mutual agreement the team's manager has left and will be replaced. Despite recent form loyal fans are keen to support their home nation and looking forward to a new manager and the next opportunity.

It seems that the FAI will be taking their time to choose the next manager. The next major tournament will be Euro 2016, the players and fans alike will be hoping a new manager can revitalise the team and boost their chances of success.

Before the start of qualification in 2014 there may be some bright young talent to wear the Ireland away football shirt, along with experienced players who united can turn the team around and give the fans a reason to celebrate in the Irish style.
