First off, Liverpool's new jerseys look great. The team's home kits are more or less the same as they've been for years: shirts with red with white trim, as made by Warrior, Liverpool's team merchandise company. The Liverpool third jersey for 2014 2015, however, showcases a bold new design for the team. Slick horizontal stripes, alternating grey and black, look cool and powerful, while a diagonal red stripe cutting across the center of the shirt only adds to the aesthetic of the design. You can find the new third jersey at the Soccer Box online store!
The new Liverpool away kits 2014 are equally bold in how they shift the look of this beloved soccer team. Unlike last year's white and red away kits, this year's new jerseys are vibrant yellow with red trim. The new shirts will announce the 2014 2015 Liverpool squad as a different team than the one that narrowly failed to win the Premier League title in the spring. What fans, players, and team officials are hoping, of course, is that this new version of the Liverpool squad can succeed where last year's team didn't.
A Shifting Roster
In an effort to complete the transformation promised by the brand-new Liverpool third jersey 2014 2015, team manager Brendan Rodgers is in the process of building his new squad for the upcoming season.
One new transfer is Dejan Lovren, a talented Croatian center back who has evidently struggled throughout his career to find a good home for his skills. Since beginning his senior professional career in 2006, Lovren has spent time at Dinamo Zagreb, Inter Zapresic, Lyon, and Southampton. All of those years with different teams have amounted to 249 appearances and 11 goals, not to mention his 28 appearances with the Croatian national team.
After a successful year at Southampton, Lovren is quietly considered one of the best players in the Premier League, and at 25, he likely still has a good number of years ahead of him in his career. If Liverpool fans are lucky, Lovren will find a home at Anfield like he has so far been seemingly unable to do.
A New Star Striker?Â
Lovren will be joining his Southampton teammate, striker Rickie Lambert, in his move to Liverpool. While Lovren only played for Southampton for a single season, Lambert had been with the team for five years playing a substantial role in his team's rise from England's League One to the Football League Championship and finally to the Premier League.
Lambert's appearance and goal statistics have, understandably, dropped since he has arrived in the more competitive Premier League, but the English striker is still a dependable goal-scoring commodity. With two stellar Premier League seasons under his belt, Lambert is ready to move on up to join one of the biggest football clubs in the world. Though he is 32 years old and likely entering the twilight of his professional career, fans are hopeful that Lambert's appearance in the Liverpool away kits for 2014 will be his first of several seasons at Anfield.
In any case, Lambert has big shoes to fill as he prepares to don the Liverpool third jersey for 2014 2015 for the first time. His role could ultimately be to replace Luis Suarez, Liverpool's star striker from the past three seasons. Suarez, who is on his way to Barcelona this fall, scored 133 goals for Liverpool, in just four seasons and 82 appearances. In other words, Lambert will have a lot to measure up to this season.
