The FA Cup So Far
By itself, the fact that Liverpool has made it this far into the 2014 2015 FA Cup is fairly impressive. The football club has struggled in the Premier League this year to reach the same heights that they did during the 2013 2014 season. Without Luis Suarez around to score 31 goals, this season has been a transitional period for the Reds.
Furthermore, this year's Football Association tournament proved to be full of upsets, with most of England's biggest soccer clubs-Chelsea, Manchester City, Southampton, and Tottenham Hotspur, to name a few-bowing out of the competition in the round of 32. The Reds survived the round unscathed though, donning the Liverpool away jersey 2014 2015 and besting fourth tier club AFC Wimbledon in a January 5th fixture.
From there, the Reds became one of the Premier League's best bets at a 2014 2015 FA Cup title. They hit a bump in the round of 16, sharing a scoreless draw with the Bolton Wanderers in a January 24th home match. At the February 4th replay, though-an away fixture at Bolton's Macron Stadium-the Reds netted a 2-1 win to stay alive in the tournament.
Once fans in the Liverpool kit had been treated to a Valentine's Day away victory over Crystal Palace, it became especially apparent that the Reds might just have a chance of winning the 2014 2015 FA Cup. After all, their biggest opponents left in the contest were Manchester United and Arsenal, and they would be facing one another in the quarterfinals.
Liverpool, meanwhile, was drawn against the Blackburn Rovers for the quarters. Considering Blackburn's status as a middle-of-the-road second tier football club (last year, they finished at eighth place in the Football League Championship division), most expected the Reds to have an open path to the semifinals.
The Rovers came out fighting in their March 8th game at Anfield though, and even with the home field advantage, Liverpool couldn't seal a semifinal berth. The game ultimately ended with a 0-0 score, and the Reds and the Rovers will now face one another one more time, in an April 8th replay match.
Liverpool still has a very good chance of reaching the next round of the 2014 2015 FA Cup. The only issue is that they've now lost their home team privilege, and will have to beat Blackburn in an away fixture in order to progress to the semis. All the more reason to grab a new Liverpool away jersey 2014 2015 and support the club in the upcoming fixture!
