Liverpool stripToday it has been revealed that young rising star Raheem Sterling of Liverpool FC has been arrested on suspicion of common assault against his 20 year old girlfriend Shana Ann Rose. The 18 year old was arrested on Thursday night under section 39. Sterling was remanded in custody and appeared at Liverpool's Magistrates Court today where he denied all charges; his case has been adjourned until September. As this is a section 39 assault if Raheem Sterling is found guilty then he could face imprisonment which will of course effect his football career, will he ever wear a Liverpool FC shirt again?

The couple have been together for three years so far, since Raheem Sterling first signed for Liverpool and received his Liverpool strip. Sterling's girlfriend Shana Ann Rose, also known as Miss Halliday won Miss United Kingdom earlier this year and also competed for Miss World in March, she also works in retail outlet Hollister as a sales assistant.

It is appears that the couple went out to celebrate Halliday's 20th birthday with a meal, with an argument kicking off shortly afterwards leading to Sterling's arrest at around 10.30pm. It is a shame really as just a few hours before the incident it had been announced that he was one of the players to be picked to play for England under 21's against Scotland.

Even though Raheem is quite young to be in the limelight at 18, he should be mature enough to know that this type of behaviour is not acceptable and does not go down well with football supporters. He needs to concentrate on his football this season and work hard when he is given the opportunity to be part of the squad.

This is not the first time that this type of incident has happened involving Sterling, in February he was also charged with another type of assault after an encounter with a 27 year old women. However the victim did not turn up to court so the case was therefore dropped. Many understand that this is why we did not see much of Sterling in the Liverpool strip around that time, with Liverpool preferring to blame the absence on his injuries.

This incident has not helped out with the situation at Liverpool, with the club already having to handle a certain 'Suarez' situation very carefully in order to keep the star striker there; this sort of tops it off. The club and Brendan Rodgers are trying very hard to get ready for the new season; the players are training hard in order to be ready to walk out in the Liverpool FC shirt again.

Raheem Sterling is one of many brilliant young players of today, England manager Roy Hodgson had praised the young lad just hours before he was arrested, complimenting his playing style and ability to fit in to the Premier League ways of football so quickly.  Sterling, along with Wilfried Zaha of Manchester United are expected by Hodgson to a very important part of the England senior team during upcoming months.

If Raheem Sterling is found not guilty this could be a major factor for his footballing career, i am sure we will be seeing much more of him in the Liverpool strip if he gets away jail free. The club I am sure would be gutted to see such star quality go down the drain if the worst came to the worst.

All of the details surrounding the arrest and court case have not yet been released, there should be more information to follow including Miss Halliday's opinion on the subject and what actually happened that night, did Raheem Sterling really assault his girlfriend in a minute of rage? Or was there more to the story? I am sure we will find out very soon.
