Last year, Liverpool fans were disappointed when their team came so close to winning a Premier League title only to lose it to Manchester City at the last moment. A Strong RunÂ
Liverpool hasn't lost a Premier League fixture since mid-December, since they played Manchester United in a December 14th away fixture. Even better, in the 13 games the soccer team has played since, they've only drawn three of them, winning the other 10.
With such a strong run of success, it's been a proud time to be a fan in the Liverpool Warrior kit. In other words, the Reds have oddly become one of the most consistent football clubs in England over the past 13 competitive weeks of play-after not being consistent at all during the first half of the season.
Liverpool's luck has gotten even more of an uptick over the past month. February saw the club climbing the 2014 2015 division standings table, with a 3-2 home win against Tottenham Hotspur and a 2-0 away victory at Southampton. Manchester City
But it wasn't until March that things really started to happen for the Liverpool Warrior kit. On the first day of the month, the soccer squad grabbed arguably their most important victory of the 2014 2015 campaign. The fixture, a home match for the Reds, was against Man City.
Even though Liverpool had been showing a lot of new resolve since the start of 2015, no one was sure if the team could beat the Sky Blues. After all, back in August, the Reds lost 1-3 in an away match at Manchester's Etihad Stadium. It was a demoralizing loss for fans in the Liverpool away jersey 2014 2015, and one of the first signs that the team was headed toward a trouble-ridden soccer season.
By some stroke of luck, the March 1st home fixture wasn't at all a repeat of that away game disaster. Instead of letting the Sky Blues dictate terms, Liverpool took command of the game early, with an 11-minute goal by Jordan Henderson (and assisted by Raheem Sterling). Man City responded shortly thereafter, equalizing with a goal by Edin Dzeko. But the Reds kept their heads, and midway through the second half, Henderson delivered another assist (this time to Philippe Courtinho) to give his team a 2-1 lead.
Liverpool won that match and continued the streak this past weekend, beating Burnley 2-0 in another home fixture. Once again, Jordan Henderson was the star of the proceedings, contributing a goal in the first half and an assist in the second (to Daniel Sturridge) to guarantee a victory. Needless to say, football fans at Anfield were ecstatic.
Those two victories-plus a 1-0 win over Swansea City last weekend-moved Liverpool into the top five for the 2014 2015 Premier League.
