Manchester City has had an outstanding 2013 - 2014 football season to date. After losing to Wigan in last years FA Cup final the teams manager Roberto Mancini was sacked. The traditional color for the Manchester City jerseys is sky blue. The 2013 - 2014 kit is a classic style with rounded neckline. The navy blue trim represents the 1st jerseys they wore for the teams 1st match in 1892. The crest is placed in a shield shape, reminiscent of the shield used on their 1956 FA Cup Final jersey. This latest shirt is inspired by the clubs history, and aims to promote pride and a desire to win.

The team wearing the Manchester City shirt lifted the Premier League trophy in 2012, their 1st league win since 1968. They won the FA Cup in 2011 and were on course for another last season, but were thwarted at the final hurdle. Manchester City met Wigan in the final, with Wigan facing relegation the sky blues were favorite to win. However, it was not to be. Wigan won 1-0 and lifted their 1st trophy for 81 years.

Last years FA Cup final signaled the end of Roberto Mancini's time with Manchester City. Manuel Pellegrini was selected as his replacement.  Pellegrini is a Chilean football manager and has managed some top teams including Real Madrid. With previous club Malaga he took them to a 4th place league finish, and the Champions League for the 1st time in the clubs history.

It was hoped that his success in Malaga would be a good basis for winning trophies at Manchester City. The season began slowly but quickly built momentum as Pellegrini and the players wearing the Manchester City shirt have seen off team after team. By the middle of January they had scored over 100 goals from just 34 games, and Pellegrini spoke candidly of his desire to win all 4 trophies this season.

After least seasons defeat it will be crucial for Pellegrini to perform well in the FA Cup.  Their 1st game, the 3rd round tie was against Blackburn, this ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw that wasn't the start to the 2013 - 2014 FA Cup campaign that Pellegrini would of wanted. The team wearing the Manchester City jerseys went into the replay fired up, they won 5-0 and secured their entry into the 4th round.

The 4th round tie was against Watford at the Etihad Stadium. This wasn't an easy game, however, Pellegrini's side won 4-2. The next clash was also on home soil against Chelsea. After losing their Premier League clash, and their 1st home match since 2010 against Chelsea the previous week, Pellegrini was determined that his team would win. The players wearing the Manchester a City shirt did not disappoint. The final score of 2-0 was enough to end Chelsea's FA Cup campaign and ensure Manchester City's progress to the quarterfinal.

The quarterfinal is promising to be a great game; it will be a repeat of last years final. The team wearing the Manchester City shirt will meet Wigan at the Etihad Stadium. On home soil Pellegrini's men have been unstoppable this season. They will have the added impetus to right last year's wrong and beat Wigan. Pellegrini will be determined to succeed against the team that Mancini failed against.  This years quarterfinal clash will be unmissable football, and vital in Pellegrini's quest for the quadruple.
