With a win this past weekend against Evian TG, Marseille managed to cling to the runner-up position-albeit, only slightly. 2015 So Far

Of the five matches the squad has played so far in 2015, they've lost three. The first defeat, a January 4th Coupe de France fixture against Grenoble, saw Olympique eliminated from the tournament in the round of 64. It was a close fixture, one where the score remained tied at 3-3 after both regulation and extra time. Grenoble, playing on home turf, ultimately won on penalty kicks.
Since then, Marseille has played four games in Ligue 1. Coming into the weekend, both Olympique and PSG had 44 points in the 2014 2015 Ligue 1 standings. Both teams also had goal difference ratings of +20. Needless to say, the weekend was going to be an indirect battle between the two soccer squads to see who could take over ownership of the second-place slot.
As it turned out, the weekend would just be another tie between the two teams. On one hand, the Olympians treated fans in the Olympique Marseille home jersey 2014 2015 to a 1-0 win over Evian. Thanks to strong defense, as well as a 49-minute penalty goal from Andre-Pierre Gignac, Olympique was able to maintain their recent streak of winning games at home.
On the other hand, Paris Saint Germain also won a home game this past weekend, and also defeated their opponents-Rennes-with a score of 1-0. The twin outcomes keep the two football clubs tied on the 2014 2015 Ligue 1 standings table. Each team has 47 points in the standings, and 21+ in goal difference.
