The Manchester United football club had a golden opportunity on Saturday, April 18th, to move into second place in the 2014 2015 English Premier League. The squad was playing an away fixture at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge, and actually dominated the match in terms of possession and close scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, the Blues were simply too strong from a defensive perspective, and won the match 1-0. The 2014 2015 Season
While the wearers of the MUFC kit are not likely to win the Premier League title this year, the 2014 2015 campaign has still been a massive improvement over the 2013 2014 season for the club. Last year, the Red Devils fell all the way to seventh place on the Premier League table, after putting together a shoddy and inconsistent record of 19 wins, seven draws, and 12 losses.
Already, Manchester United have surpassed their 2013 2014 performance. Indeed, last season, the club finished the Premier League campaign with 64 points in the standings. Currently, with five games still to be played, MUFC have 65 points-with a record of 19 wins, eight draws, and six losses. Even if they lose every game left this season, the football club will still have done better in 2014 2015 than they did a year ago.
Chelsea FC
Of course, simply surpassing their 2013 2014 performance is not enough to satisfy this year's Manchester United squad. The club wants to return to the top of the Premier League, a position they once seemed to occupy every year. That goal was in mind on Saturday, as players donned the Manchester United away shirt 2014 2015 to take on Chelsea football club at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues, of course, are the current frontrunners to take home the Premier League trophy this year. They've been virtually unbeatable, only losing two matches in the top flight division. However, the Red Devils held the Blues to a draw back in October, and were hoping for a win on April 18th.
In many ways, the wearers of the MUFC kit outplayed Chelsea during Saturday's football match. They controlled possession of the ball for nearly three-quarters of the soccer fixture, and created half a dozen scoring opportunities that just didn't quite pan out. With slightly more accurate shooting, the Red Devils could have won the soccer match by three or four points.
Unfortunately, fans in the Manchester United away shirt 2014 2015 were instead treated to a loss. At the 38-minute mark, Chelsea's Eden Hazard did what MUFC couldn't do and put a ball in the net. It was enough to win the game for the home team.
Last Days of the 2014 2015 Campaign
Even with the away loss at Stamford Bridge, Manchester United could still feasibly win the 2014 2015 Premier League title. If the Red Devils win their last five games, and Chelsea stumbles a bit, first place could still be in reach.
MUFC will play Everton, West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, and Hull City in the final five matches of the current campaign. The only one of those games that should present much of a challenge is the May 17th home fixture against division second-placers Arsenal. Still, five wins could definitely be a possibility for the Red Devils. The Blues are unlikely to choke down the stretch, though, so Manchester United will likely be settling for second or third place.
