Manchester United and Everton

The wearers of the Newcastle United kit could use some extra fan support right now, too, after a pair of rough losses where they couldn't even manage a single point.

The first was a home game against Manchester United. After losing to Manchester's Red Devils back in December, in a 1-3 away fixture, the Magpies weren't expected to win the March 4th rematch. In that sense the team exceeded expectations, nearly managing a 0-0 draw. But Man Utd's Ashley Young netted a goal at the 89-minute mark, and just like that, gave his soccer squad the victory.

The second game-played this past Sunday, March 15th-saw the Magpies donning the Newcastle United away shirt 2014 2015 to take on Everton's Blues. Newcastle actually was expected to contend in this match after all, they had beaten the Blues 3-2 back in December, in the last game either team played in 2014.

With the home field advantage on their side this time around, though, Everton looked much more at ease in Sunday's match. A goal at the 20-minute mark, delivered by James McCarthy, gave the Blues an early advantage, and they never let it go. Two more points in the second half proved that Everton was in top form.

Meanwhile, the Newcastle away squad struggled to make any sort of impression in the game. They split possession 50/50 with the Blues, but where Everton used that time to score three goals, United couldn't manage a single point.

The Magpies also picked up a number of fouls, including two yellow cards and a red card. To make matters worse, the red went to Newcastle United captain, Fabricio Coloccini. Needless to say, spirits couldn't have been much lower among fans in the Newcastle United kit as the disastrous football game limped toward its 0-3 conclusion.

The Next Steps

And yet Newcastle United has been far from a poor team throughout the 2014 2015 season. They've achieved wins against big teams like Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool, and have done well at home, only losing four of their 14 home outings so far. 12 weeks into the Premier League campaign, they were sitting in fifth place.

Where the Magpies have struggled this year, though, is in away fixtures. The squad has worn the Newcastle United away shirt 2014 2015 for 15 games since the start of the season: of those, they've only won three, drawing another four and losing the remaining eight. Suffice to say that this is a soccer team that lives and dies on the home field advantage.

With three of Newcastle's next five matches set to be played at home, perhaps the football club will be able to better its position (they are currently in 11th place) before the end of the season. Cheer the team on with a new 2014 2015 Newcastle United kit, available at Soccer Box. With discounts of 15 to 25% off available on the club's home kit and away shirt, today is the day to stock up on Magpie gear.
