There was a time earlier this season when it looked like Olympique Marseille were headed toward their first Ligue 1 title since 2010. From week six to week 19, the club was a constant and unwavering fixture at the top of the league standings table. Not even two-time-consecutive reigning champions Paris Saint Germain could seem to find the Olympians' weak spot. It made the first half of the 2014 2015 season a consistently exciting time to be a fan in the Olympique Marseille shirt.

But then something went wrong. With a loss against Montpellier in their first game of 2015, the Olympians fell out of first place-and seemingly lost their confidence. Since then, they haven't even been able to win two or more games in a row, and have picked up half a dozen more losses. Luckily, with a win on Friday against Metz, it seems as if the football club might just be finding their feet again. Celebrate that fact with a new Marseille away jersey 2014 2015, available at Soccer Box!

Marseille Shirt

Metz

The Olympians donned the Marseille away jersey 2014 2015 on Friday, May 1st, for their football fixture against Metz. As the 35th game of the season for the squad, it was an opportunity for them to make up Olympique Marseille Away Jersey 2014 - 2015some lost ground, and they didn't disappoint.

After a rough run in April, Olympique's players were clearly looking to start May off on a good note. Marseille played four Ligue 1 games in April and lost all of them, including football fixtures against highly-ranked teams (Paris Saint Germain) and lower-ranked teams (Lorient) alike. Talk about April showers!

Luckily, things definitely were looking up for the wearers of the Olympique Marseille shirt on Friday. The soccer squad may have been playing away from home, but there was a confidence to their play that we haven't seen since March.

Most of the credit must go to Andre-Pierre Gignac, who scored a goal at the 38-minute mark, and then added another in the second half (with an assist from Dimitri Payet) to give Olympique Marseille a breezy 2-0 victory. Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda also deserves a mention for keeping a clean sheet in the match.

Penalty Problems

If there was one issue with how the Olympians were playing on Friday, it had to do with their penalties. Three members of the football club's starting lineup-including Gignac, midfielder Mario Lemina, and attacker Andre Ayew-received yellow cards during the fixture.

Obviously, the yellow cards didn't cost Olympique Marseille the match, but they do put a slight blemish on an otherwise solid away game performance. Gignac is the squad's top goalscorer for the 2014 2015. Ayew is third in terms of goals, and is also a very important offensive player. And while Lemina has not been as instrumental to Marseille's 2014 2015 campaign as the other two, that's arguably only because he received a red card suspension in February and was out for almost a month. (Gignac and Ayew have both gotten red cards in 2015 as well, but neither missed as many matches.)

The bottom line is that even if the wearers of the Marseille away jersey 2014 2015 can win games in spite of yellow cards, they can't afford as many penalties as they've been getting. Red cards for top players have undoubtedly hurt the club on the backstretch of their 2014 2015 Ligue 1 campaign.
