New Additions to the Squad

Porto has had a busy summer with a string of friendly matches to get the blood flowing and serve as a training and team building exercise in preparation for next season. Their 1st friendly was on 7th July, the team went out to win and win they did in a 9-0 thrashing of Valadares. They have also beat Desportivo das Aves, Venlo and Genk in recent weeks.

On Sunday they met Saint-Etienne at their home ground scoring a 0-0 draw. The beginning of August see's the team travel to England where they will have their last 2 summer friendlies against Everton and West Brom before heading back to Portugal ready for the start of the football season.

As well as a new football shirt, and friendly games Porto has made some new signings ready for kick off of the Primeira League on 17th August. The most recent of these additions is Jose Angel. He has made the move from Roma although he spent the whole of last season on loan at Real Sociedad. Jose Angel is a determined left back and is sure to make his mark. He is said to be excited to start this new-chapter in his career and looks forward to making his debt wearing the Porto home shirt 2014 2015.

Other new additions to join the team this summer include Andres Fernandez. Fernandez is a Spanish goalkeeper, and he has signed a 4-year contract with Porto. Fernandez is the latest in a string of Spanish signings to bolster the Porto team. As well as Fernandez, Adrian Lopez, a forward, has made the move to Porto from Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid has loaned out Oliver Torres, a midfielder, and Cristian Tello has also joined on loan from Barcelona.

With a host of new players to sport the Porto football jerseys the pre season tour and intensive training is imperative to the team's start of season performance. The fixture list has been revealed for the coming season and the Porto management and squad want to be fully prepared for the challenge ahead.

After 3 consecutive years at the top of the Primeira Liga table last season Porto slipped to 3rd. Not a terrible finish and still enough to qualify for UEFA Champions League football, although they will have to navigate the play-off stage.
