Still, the wearers of the Porto Warrior kit have had plenty to be proud of lately. In early October, they beat Braga-the current third-place team in the 2014 2015 Premeira Liga-in a 2-1 home game. As for big wins, they've had a few, from a 5-0 away fixture against big rival Arouca, to a 5-0 home victory over Rio Ave.
The Champions League
These big wins and exciting outcomes would be enough to get many football-loving kids excited about wearing the Porto kids home shirt 2014 2015. However, arguably the most impressive facet of the club's season so far was their performance in the early rounds of the UEFA Champions League.
The Dragons have won the Champions League title on two occasions in the past: first in 1987, and most recently in 2004. Last year they were eliminated from the tournament during the group stage, which left them with something to prove this time around.
Whatever that was, the club proved it. Porto topped their qualifying group with four wins and two draws. Of the Portuguese teams competing in the group stage, they were the only ones to avoid elimination. Benfica finished at the bottom of their group without any wins, while Sporting CP couldn't quite beat out Chelsea or Schalke 04 for a spot in the round of 16.
Even more impressively, FC Porto was one of only two teams outside of the prime European football nations (England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France) to qualify for the knockout phase. In other words, they are a big underdog in the tournament.
