It really seems as if no one is quite sure how to look at the Portugal national football team. Are they one of the best national teams in the world? They were slotted as such on FIFA's world rankings last year, leading up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but ended up being eliminated from the contest in the group stage. But even after that disappointing outcome, the wearers of the Portugal soccer shirts are still ranked as one of the top 10 national teams in the world. They're also shoe-ins to qualify for next year's UEFA European Championship, but just lost a friendly fixture against the Cape Verde Islands-a country hardly even on the global soccer map.

As you can see, Portugal is a football squad full of contradictions at the moment. However, you can still celebrate the squad today with a new set of official shirts in stock at Soccer Box! We have stock available of the brand new Portugal away jersey 2015 2016, and suffice it to say that it's one of the most stunning jersey designs that Nike has ever done.

Last year, Portugal's away shirts were simplistic white kits with blue trim. For 2015 2016, Nike has completely overhauled the away jersey design. The new away jersey is black, with sleek splashes of abstract green and red striping on the front of the shirt. The team will be wearing this new jersey design at Euro 2016 and in the qualifying games scheduled throughout 2015. Get ready for all of the upcoming action today, by visiting Soccer Box and checking out our selection of Portugal soccer shirts!

Euro 2016

The new Portugal away jersey 2015 2016 certainly looks like the garb of football champions. And at Euro 2016 next year, Cristiano Ronaldo and company will look to do that jersey proud by winning a first-ever European Championship trophy for their country.

The Portuguese side has come close to winning Euro several times. In 2004, they hosted the event and finished as the runner-up. On three additional occasions, the team made it all the way to the semifinals. This year, with two-time consecutive champions Spain looking weaker than they have in almost a decade, and with Cristiano Ronaldo in peak form, the nation is hoping to finally break precedent and take top honors.

So far, Portugal's chances of reaching Euro 2016 look quite good. The country is in first place in Group I, ahead of Denmark, Albania, and more. On March 29th, they started off their 2015 campaign right, beating Serbia 2-1 in a home match.

Cape Verde Islands

It goes without saying that fans in the Portugal soccer shirts are getting excited about the 2016 European Championship. After the disappointing early exit from 2014's World Cup, it feels like this might be the nation's shot at true football glory.

Still, there are signs that maybe the Portuguese national side isn't quite as strong yet as it will need to be to win UEFA's biggest tournament. For instance, on March 31st, Portugal played Cape Verde Islands in a friendly fixture-and lost, 0-2.

The defeat was quite a shock, considering the fact that Portugal is the seventh-ranked national team on FIFA's world rankings, and Cape Verde's Blue Sharks are a minor football nation at best. In the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, for instance, the country exited the competition after the group stage, with no wins and only one goal scored.

The Blue Sharks scored two goals, though, en route to beating Portugal. By halftime, they were already up two points, and the Portuguese were never able to recover or even formulate a successful scoring drive.

Granted, Cristiano Ronaldo didn't play at all in the fixture, either as part of the starting lineup or as a substitute. But the result of the match is still somewhat troubling, and highlights how rudderless the Portuguese squad is without their best player.

Luckily, Portugal will have a chance at redemption-with Ronaldo in the lineup-when they play their next Euro 2016 qualifying game in June. That game, scheduled for June 13th, will see players donning the new Portugal away jersey 2015 2016 for an away fixture at Armenia.

Can the Portuguese football squad bounce back from their bizarre friendly loss against Cape Verde Islands to contend for a title at the 2016 European Championship? Only time will tell, but you can root for the squad today by stopping by Soccer Box and checking out our selection of brand new 2015 2016 Portugal soccer shirts
