The Portuguese national soccer team has secured qualification for their 6th World Cup appearance. The World Cup is the most prestigious football tournament and was 1st played in 1930. It is held every 4 years and this summer's tournament will be the 20th hosting.
The team that wears the Portugal soccer jersey recorded their best ever finish of 3rd place in 1966. They will be looking to better that this summer in Brazil.

After last night's play-off's we now have more of an understanding as to who will definitely travelling to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup tournament.
There were four teams who had to compete against each other in the second legs in order to determine who would grab one of the few remaining places in the World Cup next year.
One of the most anticipated games was Portugal V Sweden, or you could say Ronaldo V Ibrahimovic.
In the end it was Ronaldo who won the battle. You will usually see this striker playing in the Cristiano Ronaldo 7 Real Madrid home soccer jersey 2013 - 2014.
The teams competing also included Romania V Greece, with Greece securing their spot drawing 1-1 with Romania but beating them in the first leg 3-1 which gave them an aggregate score of 2-4.
Croatia took on Iceland and won 2-0 on aggregate after both teams failed to break the deadlock in the first leg.
