The Real Madrid football club's quest to defend their 2014 UEFA Champions League title is moving along according to the plan. The Vikings won their fifth group stage match last week, beating the Swiss club, FC Basel, and ensuring advancement to the knockout phase of the prestigious European tournament. The club's players will don the Real Madrid home kit for one last Group B fixture-against Bulgaria's Ludogorets Razgrad team-on December 9th.

A Perfect RecordÂ
If Real Madrid can win their upcoming home match against Ludogorets Razgrad, they will have achieved a perfect record in the 2014 2015 UCL group stage. So far, the team has won two games apiece against Basel and England's Liverpool football club.
Most of those matches have been easy wins for Cristiano Ronaldo and company. In September, they donned the Real Madrid home kit for their first Champions League fixture since beating Atletico Madrid in the finals last spring. That particular home game was a fixture against Basel and ended with a score of 5-1.
The Vikings had a similarly easy time beating Liverpool, shutting out the English squad at both home and away matches. In fact, Ludogorets Razgrad has so far been the only team to put up much of a fight. The Bulgarian squad scored first in an October 1st fixture against Madrid, and actually led for nearly 20 minutes before Ronaldo delivered a penalty goal. Karim Benzema provided the victory with a goal at the 77-minute mark.
Still, when fans pack into the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on December 9th, wearing the Real Madrid home shirt 2014 2015 and cheering for a victory, they won't be feeling much of a threat from Ludogorets. The Razgrad squad is so far behind in Group B, in terms of both standings points and goal difference, that they have already lost any chance of advancing to the knockout phase of the 2014 2015 UCL. (Both Liverpool and Basel still have advancement hopes, and Real is guaranteed a slot in the round of 16.)
Looking Forward
Should the Vikings indeed achieve a perfect group stage record, it would give credence to the idea that we might be seeing the black, white, and gold hues of the Real Madrid home kit atop the UCL podium again this year. Why? Because no other soccer team in the entire tournament right now has won five matches in a row.
Granted, a perfect record in the early stages doesn't necessarily indicate an eventual champion. Indeed, back in the 2011 2012 Champions League, Real Madrid was in a similar position early on, winning six matches against the likes of Lyon, Ajax, and Dinamo Zagreb. The Vikings did go on to do very well in the knockout phases, but they didn't win the whole football competition. Instead, they lost in the semifinals against Bayern Munich-a squad that did go on to claim the whole tournament.
Still, fans will be cheering on the wearers of the Real Madrid home shirt 2014 2015 at the Razgrad match, and hoping for perfection. Such a feat would be appropriate, too, given Real's recent unshakable soccer success in the Spanish La Liga. Perhaps this year, the Madrid club can collect both titles. (Last year, Atletico claimed the La Liga title, with Real coming in third.)
Only time will tell where the Vikings will end up this season. In the meantime, though, you can pick up a new Real Madrid home kit, away shirt, training kit, or goalkeeper shirt. All of these football shirt variations are available for purchase at Soccer Box!
