Wolfsburg scored a massive victory, Borussia Dortmund snapped their seven-game winning streak, and Bayern Munich continued to avoid defeats in the 13th week of the Bundesliga title race 2015/16. The Bavarians are widening their lead over the rest of the table, with Dortmund's loss allowing the defending league champions to move from a five-point advantage to an eight-point lead. With 12 wins and only one draw on their record this season,
Munich already seem like a foregone conclusion to clinch yet another German football championship next spring.
Bayern were in-form in their away fixture against Schalke 04, winning 3-1 to improve both their point total and their goal difference. While Schalke 04 ended up in sixth place on the 2014 2015 Bundesliga, qualifying for the 2015 2016 Europa League, and even beating the previous season's runner-up, Borussia Dortmund, it was still a rocky year for the football club. On October 14th following a loss against Hoffenheim, Jens Keller, head coach at Schalke 04, was sacked by officials. Keller had only been with the club since 2012, but he had enjoyed some decent results, including a third place finish in 2013 2014, and a fourth place finish the year before.
Keller was replaced by Swiss coach Roberto Di Matteo, but Di Matteo couldn't turn things around, and resigned at the end of the season. In the final 10 games of the season, Di Matteo's soccer squad had only managed to tally two wins, costing them a place in the Champions League, and making Schalke 04 arguably the second biggest letdown of the 2014 2015 Bundesliga, after Borussia Dortmund.

Since the 2004 2005 season, Schalke 04 have been the Bundesliga runners-up three times, finished third on another three occasions, and earned two fourth-place results. This past season's sixth place finish was relatively weak for the football club, but still merited a Europa League qualification. Furthermore, only two seasons in the past decade (2008 2009, when they dipped to eighth, and a fluke 2010 2011 season that ended in a 14th place finish) could be feasibly described as poor for Schalke 04. The wearers of the Schalke football shirt remain German football's perpetual underdogs-dark horses who always seem to be getting close to the national championship title, but never actually winning it. Indeed, the Miners haven't clinched the German Championship since 1958. That year, Schalke beat Hamburger SV to earn their seventh
