About Ligue 1 and its Influence
Ligue 1 is the top tier league for French club teams with the Ligue 2 and Champtionnat National beneath it. Therefore, the highest scoring sides are seen in the top division compared to those of smaller lesser skilled ones.
How the transition between these three work, is that at the end of a tournament, the bottom three teams are relegated to the league beneath it and the

The 2013/14 Europa League round of 16 draw made history. For the first time, Seville’s two top sides, Sevilla and Real Betis, would face each other in continental competition. They had both made it through the tournament’s group stages and first knockout round without much fuss, but their domestic circumstances were vastly divergent. While Sevilla were chasing a place in La Liga’s top six, Betis were fighting to avoid relegation to the second tier.
As a result, the stakes were particularly high for the first all-Sevillian European contest. Historically, however, there has always been a lot at stake when the two teams have clashed. The derby dates back to 1915, when the first game took place (Sevilla won 4-3), but the roots of the rivalry go back even further.
Sevilla Derby History
In his book on Spanish football, ‘Morbo’, Phil Ball writes that: “Four years after the founding of Sevilla FC in 1905…three of Sevilla’s newly elected directors refused to sanction the

The age old debate of whose league is better has been a familiar one in the new age media world. Which is unfortunate for Italian fans, who ruled supreme before the turn of 2000, trailblazing their way through Europe and winning major trophy after major trophy. But with Serie A’s decline, it has paved the way for La Liga and the Premier League to battle it out to be Europe’s number one.
Both leagues have plenty to offer for different needs when watching football, but there are a number of factors which lead one to think that Spain’s league is far ahead of their competitors.
European football
When you take a look at the last 15 winners of a European or international trophy, ranging from the Champions League to the Europa League to the Super Cup to the Club World Cup, 14 have been from Spain.
That doesn’t just include Barcelona and Real Madrid, but also Sevilla, who dominated the Europa League and won it three consecutive times under Unai Emery.

Following an overwhelmingly impressive first season in La Liga with Sevilla, it was disappointing to see their fiery manager, Jorge Sampaoli, leave to take over as Argentina's head coach.
Having guided the Andalusian outfit to their second highest points total in La Liga history and an exemplary fourth placed league finish, he just couldn't resist the lure of managing Argentina - the country of his birth.
"There's a clear intention from my country to have me as coach and, since I was young, it's something that has appealed to me," he insisted.
He then went onto state that stepping into the position was "the fulfilling of a dream that I craved for a long time and that I've always admired this role."
Had he stayed with Sevilla, it's hard not to think they could've accomplished great things together, - April 13, 2017

In his post-match comments following Sevilla's much needed 4-2 win over Deportivo La Coruna, Los Nervionenses manager, Jorge Sampaoli, was absolutely delighted with his team's splendid attacking showing that propelled them to their first win in six league matches.
"We have had the feeling of being a team with vertigo as we attack all the time and this is a lot of fun for the future," he gleamed.
"Speed in attack is our strategy, I wish we could repeat today's performance every single week but we now have to transform our 61 points into more if we are to qualify for the Champions League."
One man who was unquestionably integral in injecting speed and dynamism into Sevilla's offensive forays was their Argentinian sensation, Joaquin Correa. Having signed from Sampdoria in the summer for €10 million, it wasn't easy in the beginning for the wildly gifted attacker to force his way into the team, but his patience and persistence - January 20, 2017

Although not too many column inches were dedicated towards Sevilla defender Nicolas Pareja following Jorge Sampaoli's side's sensational win over Real Madrid, the 32-year-old's performance was undoubtedly nothing short of exceptional.
In a match where much was justifiably made of Sevilla breaking Madrid's 40 game unbeaten streak and Stevan Jovetic's dramatic stoppage time winner, the players in the less glamorous defensive positions were unsurprisingly overlooked.
While this was precisely the case for Pareja, the Sevilla captain's efforts were a vital contributing factor in the exciting win. From his right sided central defensive position, the Argentine used all of his experience, leadership, composure and masterful defensive skillset to nullify his superstar opponent, the recently crowned Ballon d'Or recipient - December 30, 2016

When Anthony Martial finished his hugely positive first season of English Premier League football roughly six months ago, most would've predicted there'd be no chance that he might be leaving Manchester United by January 2017.
But fast forward to now, however, and it would appear a very real possibility that the man who scored a eye catching 17 goals last campaign could be on his way out. Since Jose Mourinho took over in the summer, Martial, who joined the club in a whopping deal worth £58 million back in September 2015, just hasn't managed to gain the complete trust of the typically robust Mourinho.
The Portuguese boss has told the 21-year-old he wants him to work harder and earn his spot, urging the player to be patient with his methods. "Anthony is very, very young. People forget that and last season Manchester United played completely differently. He was basically playing up front," Mourinho explained.

Sevilla are taking La Liga by storm this season with a vibrant brand of fluid, attacking football. Under the tutelage of new manager Jorge Sampaoli, the Andalusians are finally transferring their Europa League pedigree which has seen them lift Europe's secondary trophy for the last three seasons in a row into domestic action.
Despite currently sitting fifth, the top of the division is tight and they are genuine title contenders, and were even top of the pile for a short period just a couple of weeks ago.
At the heart of Sevilla's emergence among the Spanish elite this season are two players who will be familiar to regular Premier League viewers.
Steven N'Zonzi and Samir Nasri have been solid Premier League performers in the past, but neither marked themselves out as world beaters during their time in England. So, to those who do not follow La Liga closely, it may come as somewhat of a surprise that both are now key figures - August 08, 2016

It's remarkable to think that roughly two weeks ago Sevilla's president, Jose Castro, had almost given up hope of signing Luciano Vietto. Although Castro remained optimistic, he felt the lure of Barcelona would be too hard for the Atletico Madrid attacker to resist. "I wish we could sign [Vietto], he is a magnificent player, but I fear it will not be possible," Castro told COPE's "El Partido de las 12" radio show.
"He is one of the options our sporting director Monchi is working on. But things are as they are. If Vietto likes Barcelona more, he should go to Barcelona. It is important that players are where they want to be, so they perform well."
When Barcelona superstar, Luis Suarez, publicly praised the 22-year-old and said he believed Vietto would be a great addition to their squad, Sevilla's chances appeared even slimer. "Vietto is a great player. I really liked him when he played at Villarreal," insisted the Uruguayan.
