There has been plenty of controversy going on since the Premier League game on Sunday when Liverpool drew 2-2 against Chelsea at Anfield. The home side played in their home Liverpool kit and Chelsea also played in their home kit. The match started off well for Chelsea when Oscar put the visitors ahead in the 26th minute when he headed in a corner. Chelsea fans were ecstatic as they battle to reach as high as they can in the table before the season ends. However it did not last long as Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers decided to bring on Daniel Sturridge who had been warming up in his Liverpool kit, he made an instant impact and netted an equalizer for Liverpool when he tapped in Luis Suarez's cross. Chelsea realised they had to put more effort in to grab all three points and started to pile on the pressure by pressing Liverpool back in to their own half.
Many chances came for a number of Chelsea players including David Luiz who nearly scored a free kick past Pepe Reina when he fumbled for the ball. However after all the pressure it ended in a Chelsea corner. As Chelsea took a corner S
uarez made a hand-ball, and referee Mark Friend spotted it, and pointed to the penalty spot. It was then Eden Hazard who stepped up and took the penalty. Liverpool were now 2-1 down in the 57th minute and needed to grab an equalizing goal. Liverpool started to attack in Chelsea's half and as one of these attacks fizzled out Liverpool's star striker Luis Saurez got overly frustrated and took it out on Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic by biting him on the arm. At the time the referee did not see what had happened and had only seen the two men pushing and shoving and even when Ivanovic showed the referee he did not take much notice. Biting is taken very seriously in football and it is not the first time Luis Suarez has done this.
During his time as captain at Ajax in 2010 he was found guilty of biting a PSV Eindhoven midfielder, at the time he was banned for seven games. During the match nobody actually seemed to have seen anything that had happened and nobody saw the attack take place and the match just carried on. Ivanovic let the game play on and did not mention anything else to his Chelsea team mates until after the match. As the game drew to an end, in stoppage time on the 90th minute Luis Suarez headed the ball in to the back of the net grabbing Liverpool one point from the match. Luis Suarez has been playing in his Liverpool kit since 2011 and has made a major impact on the squad. The 26 year old has recently been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year Award alongside other players such as Gareth Bale and Juan Mata. However football experts and other managers believe that Luis Suarez does not deserve such an award after his attack on Sunday. Some people including fellow team mates still believe his should win the Player of the Year Award after his performances for Liverpool.
During his time in his Liverpool kit Suarez has netted 23 times this season making his the top goal scorer just ahead of a Manchester United's Robin Van Persie. He is a world class player and his behaviour keeps on letting him down. There have been problems in the past, like when he was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra in 2011. Also he was accused of stamping on Wigan player Dave Jones in 2012. There has been problem after problem with the number 9 but will this be enough for Liverpool to sell him? Reports suggest not but we will wait and see. There is only so much a club can put up with.
Do you think Luis Suarez should be sold on by Liverpool or get to carry on playing in his Liverpool kit? Is he going to continue causing problems? Let us know your opinions.
