One of the more pressing questions as the English Premier League has drawn to a close has been about whether or not Harry Kane will be back at Tottenham Hotspur next season. Kane, who led the Spurs this year with 21 goals in 34 league appearances, has reportedly been named as a transfer target for Manchester United. With that said, Kane signed a five-and-a-half year contract to stay at White Hart Lane back in February, and the Spurs aren't going to be easily robbed of their star striker.

So where does that leave things? Will Kane be back to don the Tottenham Hotspur home jersey or will Manchester United-or another club, for that matter-be able to meet the lofty transfer fee that the Spurs would surely demand for their 21-year-old lynchpin?

Staying at Home

Right now, the odds seem to be leaning in favor of Harry Kane staying put at White Hart Lane. According to a report from The Daily Mail, Kane himself has said that he's not interested in moving on from Tottenham.

"There's a bright future ahead and I'm happy," Kane said. "The whole team is happy and we are all heading in the same direction."

While many players would jump at the chance to play for a higher-profile club like Manchester United-especially under the tutelage of the widely respected Louis van Gaal-it's not tough to see why Harry Kane has a personal attachment to Hotspur.

After all, the young striker played the majority of his youth career at Tottenham, from 2004 to 2009, after which he was called up to play on the senior squad. He's been loaned to other soccer teams on numerous occasions-Leyton Orient in 2011, Millwall in 2012, and Norwich and Leicester City between 2012 and 2013-but made a return to White Hart Late for the season.

2014 2015 was Kane's first season as a starter at Tottenham Hotspur, and clearly, it was a breakout year. In addition to his 34 appearances and 21 goals in Premier League matches, Harry netted 10 goals in an additional 17 cup and continental soccer matches.

His final tallies for the season were 51 appearances and 31 goals-meaning he played more often and scored more goals in 2014 2015 than in the rest of his senior career combined. It's not unreasonable that he would want to stay with the Spurs and build on that strong performance, instead of heading off to a different football club.

Transfer Interest

Of course, it's also not difficult to see why Louis van Gaal and other high-profile managers might have interest in trying to lure Kane away from Tottenham Hotspur. When all was said and done in the 2014 2015 campaign, Harry was the Premier League's second most prolific scorer-after Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, who netted 26 league goals. Between his scoring numbers and his young age, Harry Kane would be a marquee signing for just about any football club in Europe.

Manchester United is particularly in need of a player like Harry for the 2019 2020 season. In the 2018 2019 campaign, United's top scorer was team Paul Pogba, who netted just 12 goals in domestic matches. (Rooney ended up tied for 10th place on the ranking of the Premier League's top scorers.)

Harry Kane and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema are reportedly Louis van Gaal's top two offensive targets for the summer transfer season. In addition, he's already signed PSV Eindhoven's Memphis Depay, who was the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie with 22 goals. If Van Gaal could manage to bring all three footballers aboard at Old Trafford, it would be a major boost to Manchester United's lagging offensive side.

Van Gaal has already proven that he's willing to pay handsomely, too. He's already ponied up £25 million for Depay, and is reportedly willing to pay £45 million for Kane. He's not just a talker, either: last year, Van Gaal spent £150 to rebuild the Man United football squad.

But will any sum of money sway Harry Kane from his clear desire to stay put at a soccer club that has become his home? Or will he be back next year to wear the Tottenham Hotspur soccer jersey, with or without a hefty offer from Manchester United?
