History of the Inter Milan Home Kit
The iconic vertical stripes of the Inter Milan home jersey resonate around the globes as the colours of one of the best football team’s in the world. The club was founded in 1908 and has since sported the infamous blue and black colour scheme. It is said that the colour black was chosen to represent night, and blue symbolises the sky, wherever the colours come from they are now inherently interlinked with the club and inspire their nickname – Nerazzurri.
For a brief period from 1928 to the end of World War II the club was forced to change their name and colour scheme. During this time they were known as Società Sportiva Ambrosiana and wore a white top with red cross on the front, this design represents the colours of the City of Milan. This colour scheme was resurrected in 2008, to celebrate the clubs 100-year anniversary, with a similarly designed away strip. You can shop for all the latest away and third gear with Soccer Box too.
Nike Inter Milan Home Shirt
Since 1998 the infamous Nike Swoosh has adorned the Internazionale home jersey. During their tenure as kit manufacturer, Nike has retained the iconic vertical striped colour scheme. The home shirt is usually accented with yellow, white or gold and often it is the neckline that changes to introduce a new and modern feel each season.
On occasion, Nike has experimented more widely for example with a pinstripe top in 2014 and stripes of varying widths in the 2017/18 Inter Milan top. Do you have a favourite strip? Look us up on social media and share a picture of your favourite jersey with us.

San Siro – The Home of Inter Milan Soccer
Formally known as Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after a former player, the Inter Milan stadium is also known as the San Siro after the area it is located. Internazionale has called San Siro home since 1926 and since 1947 Inter Milan has played home fixtures there.
One of the most significant features of the stadium is that Inter share it with their cross-town rivals AC Milan. This rivalry plays host to the highly anticipated Derby della Madonnina twice each season, in which the team’s face each other at the San Siro.
Since it was built, San Siro has been renovated to increase its capacity ahead of the 1990 World Cup and was then reduced again in 2008 to adhere to the new UEFA standards. In 2012 there has been talks of a new construction for an Inter Milan home ground. And in 2019 Inter and AC Milan announced that they have agreed to build a new shared arena in the San Siro district. However, at the end of 2021 permission was given to the demolish parts of the existing San Siro stadium so that it could be repurposed for the 2026 Olympics. Therefore Inter and Milan could not go through with their initial plans and have since made the decision to relocate their new stadium to Greater Milan.
