Design of the Real Madrid Home Kit

Since the club’s foundation in 1902 the  shirt has been white and is now synonymous with the club. There was a single season in 1925 where the squad wore a white shirt with black shorts, but results were so poor that the combination was immediately scrapped with a return to an all-white kit for the following season, and every season since.

If you would prefer more variety in colour scheme you may want to head over to the away kit store. In recent years, kit supplier Adidas has experimented with different coloured trim adorning the jerseys, which has been a popular initiative with supporters. Below we pick out some of our favourite football jerseys from past seasons.

  • 1986/87: White jersey with all over chevron graphic. Bold purple sleeve detail, faux v-shaped neckline with polo style collar. Manufactured by Hummel, including the club crest and Parmalat sponsorship.
  • 1993/94: Plain white jersey with bold neckline. Purple polo style collar with oversized v-shaped insert and button placket. Chevron logos on the sleeve and collar, Hummel logo, club crest and Teka sponsor logo on the front.
  • 2000/01: Navy blue and grey sleeve and underarm inserts make this edition of the soccer jersey stand out. Polo neck turn down collar with small placket, Adidas shoulder stripes, crest and Teka sponsor logo.
  • 2006/07: White shirt with black Adidas shoulder stripes. Grey/black curved front body detailing, rounded neckline with slightly higher back collar. Centrally placed Adidas logo, club crest and BenQ-Siemens logo adorn the front.
  • 2017/18: Teal green detail makes this kit unique. Teal Adidas stripes adorn the shoulders, teal piping highlights the inset sleeve seam, along with teal Fly Emirates logo. Wide v-shaped neckline completes the modern styling.

Personalising Your official Kit

Many supporters choose to purchase the latest shirt each season, and this is a great choice. Here in our shop you can also order the shorts and coordinating football socks. The kid’s top is available to fit children age 7-14 years, and we stock men’s sizes small – 2x-large, if you require any assistance with sizing please contact our customer service team who will be happy to help.

We do find that the fit of Adidas jerseys tends to be smaller than that of other manufacturers so you may prefer to size up, particularly if you are shopping for junior sizes to ensure that the shirt fits your growing child throughout the season.  Socks are sold in UK shoe sizes, we are happy to help if you require assistance converting sizes from EU, USA or other formats where necessary.

Adidas also launch a new goalkeeper kit that you may be interested in if your favourite player is the squad’s number 1. You can shop the full range of available goalkeeper kits here.

You can of course purchase any combination of the Real Madrid home kit that suits your requirements. Look out for special bundle deals that we may have available when purchasing the full kit.

Club Grounds

This great football team have had various grounds during their existence. The Santiago Bernabéu is now of course synonymous with the club, however before moving here they called several other stadiums where they play their matches as follows:

  • Campo de O’Donnell: 1912-1922
  • Campo de Ciudad Lineal: 1923
  • Estadio Chamartin: 1923-1947
  • Santiago Bernabéu: 1947-present

Building work began on the Santiago Bernabéu in 1944 under the instruction of namesake and then club president Santiago Bernabéu. It is currently the second largest football stadium in Spain. In the past it had a large capacity of up to 125,000 from 1952-82, but with the introduction of stricter safety standards, and all seater regulations through renovations in 1982 and 2001 the current stadium seats up to 81,044 supporters.

Match days in Madrid and around the stadium are a sea of white kits, and fans sporting other team merchandise. You can add to your match day look by picking up some official Adidas accessories at Soccer Box.
