Liverpool Training Ground

Most people would think of the home of Liverpool FC being at Anfield, and it is true that this is where they play their matches, but the players, coaches and other team members actually spend many more hours each week at the clubs complex. Previously the first team utilized the Melwood ground in West Derby. But since 2020 they have now joined the youth and development teams at the AXA centre in Kirkby.

Melwood was originally transformed into a modern facility by Bill Shankly in the 1960’s and was again updated in the early 2000’s when the Millennium Pavilion was built. After Melwood’s renovation in the 60’s they went on to win the First Division in 1963/64 and 1965/66 as well being a powerhouse of success throughout the 80’s and 90’s.

Now the development at Kirkby has been completed, the squad now has one of the most modern and technically advanced grounds in the world. Some of the facilites in their new grounds are as such:

• A single corridor connects the south to north to represent progression to the first team
